Going down memory lane, i can recall i was a major offender when it came to not eating what was in my lunch box prepared by my mother.
One eventful day my kidergarten teacher, spilled the beans, by telling my mother i was the nusery school christmas santa, by feeding all the children in my class with her tasty delights.
I was upset she told me off. But the results helped tremendously by giving me the oppurtunity to plan out our family meal timetables and my lunch box snacks too.
So if you are a parent and are having the same problems the following tips may help get your children on a right footing.
For starters go for food shopping with your children. Put vegetables, whole grain products and a treat for them in the shopping basket.
When preparing their school lunch box ask them to pick out a vegetable such as a carrot or tomatoe or cucumber, as they are easy to chop out into sclices.
Include a home treat, such as a home made mandazi or pancake drizzled with honey or lemon and unrefined sugar.
Include fruits such as strawberries, apple or a banana. At some pointcertain fruits are off season, so include fruits in season.
Nuts and seeds are great for developing minds. Add sunflower seeds or nuts into your child’s lunch box.
Pack fresh juice or a yogurt and do not forget to include water. Water is important as often at times when children say they are hungry…they mean to say they are thirsty.
So try these tips once your kindergarten tots are set for school…and perhaps may be…they won’t turn out to be a christmas santa in school…by dishing their snacks away!
